What's the difference between buying BYD stocks and joining a Plan?
BYD stocks are direct ownership of publicly traded shares — you pay market price, hold the actual equity, and collect the same dividend as any other shareholder. Investment Plans are a managed allocation: we pool your capital with other members and allocate across a mix that may include BYD stock plus related instruments. Stocks give you full control and no fees beyond brokerage; Plans give you a curated blend with a small management fee.
Can non-US / non-China investors participate?
Yes. Stocks, Pooled Funds, and Investment Plans are available in 60+ countries subject to local regulation. Company Equity is available to accredited investors in jurisdictions where such private placements are permitted. Full country list in the prospectus.
What happens to my investment if I also buy a BYD vehicle?
They're fully independent. Gold-tier Plan members and above automatically earn entries to the quarterly vehicle giveaway drawing, but investment positions are not tied to vehicle purchases. You can own shares without ever owning a car, and vice versa.
How are returns taxed?
Depends on your jurisdiction. We provide annual tax statements (1099 / T5 / equivalents) and partner with a global tax-advisory firm who can walk you through local treatment. Not tax advice — always consult your own advisor.
Is my money safe?
Investor cash sits in segregated accounts at tier-1 custody banks (BNY Mellon, HSBC, DBS). Positions are held in your name or in clearly segregated omnibus accounts. We are audited annually by Big Four firms. However, all investing carries risk — past performance is not indicative of future results, and you may lose principal.
How do I withdraw?
Stocks: sell through brokerage, settlement in 2 business days. Pooled Funds: weekly redemption window, proceeds in 5 business days. Plans: 72-hour withdrawal for Bronze/Silver, same week for Gold, 5-year lockup for Diamond and Company Equity.
